The Pine Barrens, the Pinelands, or simply the Pines is 1.1 million acres of largely undisturbed nature. Covering 7 counties in New Jersey, the Pine Barrens is home to a vast array of animals, insects and all manner of flora. It is about 20% of the states entire land mass and was home to the Lenape people. It is filled with history, both natural and some say supernatural. It is the birthplace and current home of The Jersey Devil and more legends, folklore and customs than we can possibly cover in a single afternoon. However, stalwart story tellers and dark forest dwellers pick up those themes and stories and share them. Lone voices fill the night with tales of witches and figures flying tree top to treetop. We call the mythical land that those storytellers reside in….THE POD BARRENS…. visit them on May 7 and hear their unique take on all things fringe and freaky!
